Roy Turner
Roy offers offers massage for relaxation and healing.
My aim is to co-create each massage by tuning in to the client’s particular physical, emotional and energetic needs at the time, maintaining good communication, clear boundaries and drawing on my experience in a variety of bodywork modalities. Following my experience in the pressures of corporate life, it is particularly fulfilling for me to help a stressed and tense client to relax, and this is reflected in the name of my practice (‘Stop the world and relax’).
My career began with a degree in Experimental Psychology and six years academic research in that area, followed by many years in the IT industry focusing on medical and healthcare applications, retiring early to focus on massage therapy. I have been interested in massage since the 1980’s, and have been collecting professional qualifications (in Swedish Massage, Indian Head Massage, Reflexology, Hawaiian Lomilomi massage and Holistic Pulsing, amongst others, also Anatomy and Physiology) over several decades. I am also a member of the Complementary Therapy Association (CThA) and insured through Holistic Insurance Services.
My own personal development is important to me and informs my practice. I have been an active CCI Co-Counsellor since 2003, and have taught this form of peer counselling as an accredited teacher, also taking a PTLLS (adult learning) qualification to allow teaching it in colleges. I frequently participate in personal development workshops, from weekend to year-long duration, as well as taking further massage trainings to extend my experience and for CPD.
My membership of the IPN Oxford group gives me a reflective and knowledgeable space to examine my own practice and a sounding board for ideas and understanding, as we all share and develop understanding of each others practice and integrity, and support each other in our individual personal development.
